At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Commerce held on the afternoon of December 18, spokesperson He Yadong addressed the latest progress on export control measures for rare earth-related items.
Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong stated that since the implementation of export controls on rare earth-related items, Chinese authorities have conducted policy briefings for Chinese exporters. With the accumulation of relevant export and compliance experience, some Chinese exporters have now met the basic requirements for applying for general licenses. According to my knowledge, the authorities have received and approved applications for general licenses submitted by some Chinese exporters.
At the press conference, He Yadong also mentioned that China and the EU are currently conducting consultations on the electric vehicle case. China’s principles and stance remain consistent. China is willing to properly resolve differences with the EU through dialogue and consultations, and to advance the achievement of an industry-wide solution. China hopes that the EU will work with China in the same direction, earnestly implement the important consensus reached at the China-EU leaders’ meeting, and demonstrate genuine sincerity. On the basis of previous efforts, both sides should work to resolve the issue as early as possible through dialogue and consultations, taking into account each other’s legitimate concerns and creating an open and stable market environment for the development of industries in both China and the EU.
