Ytterbium fluoride is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula YbF₃, appearing as a white powder with density of 8.2 g/cm³. It melts at 1052°C and boils above 2200°C. Insoluble in water and difficult to dissolve in hydrochloric, nitric or sulfuric acids, but soluble in perchloric acid. Hygroscopic in air but relatively stable.
