Product Description

Magnesium Oxide (MgO): For Transparent Ceramics, Spinel Crystals, Microwave Ceramics,Sintering Aids

An inorganic compound with chemical formula MgO, exhibiting properties of basic oxides and belonging to cementitious materials. White powder, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic. Melting point 2852°C, boiling point 3600°C, density 2.84 g/cm³ (25°C). Soluble in acids and ammonium salt solutions, insoluble in alcohol. Water solubility: 0.00074 g/100 mL (0°C), 0.0086 g/100 mL (30°C). When exposed to air, readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide to gradually form basic magnesium carbonate (light-weight varieties react faster than heavy-weight). Reacts with water under certain conditions to form magnesium hydroxide, exhibiting weak alkalinity (pH 10.3 for saturated solution). Solutions show alkaline properties. Insoluble in ethanol. Demonstrates strong refractivity in visible and near-ultraviolet light.

Our high-purity magnesium oxide is produced using conventional MgO raw materials purified via ion extraction technology to remove impurities. We are currently the only known domestic enterprise capable of mass-producing high-purity magnesium oxide.

About Magnesium Oxide

Two types: Light-weight and heavy-weight MgO.
Light-weight: Fluffy white amorphous powder. Odorless, tasteless, non-toxic. Density 3.58 g/cm³. Poor solubility in pure water and organic solvents (enhanced by CO₂ presence). Soluble in acids/ammonium salts. Converts to crystalline form at high temperatures. Reacts with atmospheric CO₂ to form magnesium carbonate double salts.
Heavy-weight: Dense white/beige powder. Easily hydrates with water. Absorbs moisture/CO₂ from air. Forms gels when mixed with MgCl₂ solutions.
